ARMATS CJSC provides air navigation services of the flights, including Air Traffic Control Services, Communication, Navigation and Surveillance Services and Aeronautical Information Services in the airspace of the Republic of Armenia.
The company was founded in 1997 after splitting from the corresponding services of “Zvartnots” International Airport. In 2003 the corresponding services of Gyumri and Stepanavan airports were included in the structure of “ARMATS”. This created possibility to implement common policy and approaches in all trends of the activities of the sphere. As a result this has established great possibility to enhance the performance efficiency of the sphere in the Republic on the whole, and provided the safety of air traffic services in compliance with the modern international requirements, which would have been nearly impossible if the sphere operated in isolation.
The passed activities of the company in 1997-2006.
ARMATS in cooperation with the GDCA of the Republic of Armenia has carried out a great volume of work on modernization and transition to ICAO regulations and procedures. New air routes, which pass through the airspace of the Republic of Armenia and connect South-Eastern Asia with Europe, Middle East with Northern Europe and CIS countries, have been implemented. The following activities that ARMATS realized within the mentioned phase are worth to be mentioned.
- Technical modernization of Yerevan ATC Centre by installing new ATC EUROCAT-1000 and digital Voice Communication System TXM-44000, 2000.
- Installation of regional voice communication satellite system “Phonesat” for establishing communication with the adjacent ACCs, 2000.
- Publication of LCIP of Armenia since 2000.
- Installation and modernization of “NITA” simulator and creation of “TOWER” simulator, 2000.
- Development and implementation of the new normative legal base founded on the standards of the recommended practice and procedures of ICAO, 2002 – 2004.
- Implementation of technical means for the exchange of planned and location information between the military flight control units and civil ATS units, 2003.
- Classification of the airspace in compliance with the requirements of EUROCONTROL.
- Integration of all navigation services of civil airports in “ARMATS” CJSC and foundation of single ANSP in Armenia, 2003.
- Implementation of the ICAO minimums for the aircrafts vertical separation system in the South Caucasian region, 03, 2005.
- Foundation of AIS, NOTAM office of integrated Briefing, 2003.
- Publication of electronic AIP in accordance with EUROCONTROL requirements, 2004.
- Implementation of Quality Management System and certification of AIS in accordance with ISO 9000-2001 international standards, 2004.
- Implementation of Flight Safety Management System for ATS in compliance with the requirements of ESARR 2. 3. 4, since 2004.
- Installation of the new equipment ILS/DME of 2-3 categories in “Zvartnots”Airport, 2005.
- Integration in EUROCONTROL organization, 2006.
- Integration in CFMU of EUROCONTROL organization, 2006.
- Construction, equipping and putting into operation of the new control tower in “Shirak” Airport, 2006.
